OMG! New Nail Polish Love

Earlier this week I went to Sally Beauty Supply (who seriously knew we had them in Canada?!) and picked up a few things.  One of my purchases was China Glaze 'Shocking Pink (Neon)' nail polish.  I am in love.

Not only does this super neon pink polish look amazing will a tan, it adds a bit of pop to my nail polish collection.  How did I not notice it before?  Needless to say it's on my toes right now!  Not the prettiest picture, but you get the idea!

What I Love

Lately I have been looking around on Tumblr, Blogspot and PhotoBucket and have stumbled across these photos.  I thought I would share them with you :)

This purse is to die for!

I Love MAC Glitters and Pigments!  So sparkly and fun :)

So lush and lovely.  Beautiful photo.

Kind of a different style.  But I love how simple and effortless this looks.

ELF Studio Blush

If you have ever watched my videos, you probably have come to realize that I am a BLUSH GIRL.  I just love it.  However, a makeup addiction can definitely be tough on the bank account.  That is no secret.  In Canada, one MAC blush costs $23.50.  Ouch.  And although I do have my fair share of MAC blushes, I cannot afford to buy them on a regular basis.  This is where ELF (Eyes Lips Face) comes in.

One ELF Studio Blush costs $3.  Yes, only $3.  With NARS look-a-like packaging and a gorgeous colour selection, ELF Studio Blush is truly an amazing alternative.  I own 6 out of the 11 colours that are currently available.

I OWN THESE 6:
Giddy Gold

Peachy Keen

Tickled Pink

Candid Coral

Blushing Rose

Fuchsia Fusion

I DO NOT OWN THESE 5:

Gotta Glow

Pink Passion

Berry Merry

Mellow Mauve

Twinkle Pink

Although ELF products are often hit or miss, the ELF Studio Blush is definitely a HIT.

Royal Fashion

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and commoner Kate Middleton took place on April 29, 2011.  Kate's wedding dress was kept secret until the morning of the wedding, however some speculation arose when a woman in a fur hat (assumed to be Sarah Burton) went into the Middleton's hotel. The mystery woman was wearing a signature belt which allowed fashionistas to recognize her.  Kate looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dressed designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.  The gown has a train that is nine feet long!  My favourite part of the gown however is the very intricate lace detailing.  Needless to say, the dress went over incredibly well and will be recopied thousands of times over.

As to be expected, Kate Middleton, now known as the Duchess of Cambridge, was constantly compared to Princess Diana before, during and after the Royal Wedding.  The 'People's Princess' was absolutely adored by the public and to some, Kate Middleton was a threat to her memory.  Other members of the public however embraced Kate with open arms and wished the couple the very best.

Kate was 29 years old on the day of her wedding.  Diana was at the tender age of 20 when she married Prince Charles.  Diana was nervous and shy on her wedding day whereas Kate seemed quite comfortable and calm.  Diana came from a well known family whereas Kate's family members are simply commoners without a drop of Royal blood.  The differences between Diana and Kate are many.  One similarity however is the engagement ring both women were given.

When Prince William and Kate announced their engagement to the world, William stated that this was his way of including his mother in the wedding and the marriage.

Diana's wedding back in the summer of 1981 was much more traditional than that of William and Kate's.  Diana wore a dress with an incredibly long train, 25 feet long to be exact.  David and Elizabeth Emanuel designed Di's wedding dress.

Fashion has changed over the decades, but nothing is more romantic than a Royal Wedding.

Cupcake Nails

Hey everyone!  Not only do I make YouTube videos, but I also watch them.  One of the beauty gurus who I occasionally watch is Ingrid (or missglamorazzi).  Anyway, Ingrid had uploaded a nail tutorial for cupcake nails, so I thought I would try it out :)

I began by applying a clear base coat.  The reason you should always use a base coat is that it protects your nail from being stained by the polish.  This is especially important when using dark nail polish such as black or purple!

Next I applied two coats of Sephora by OPI 'Access 24/7' which is a hot pink colour.  This made the bottom of my cupcake.

After this I applied a matte white nail polish (not sure of the brand).  I applied this white to the tip of the nail and pulled it down in three sections to give the nail a 'frosted' look.

The next step was taking a deep red colour, I used OPI 'Bogota Blackberry' and made a small circle on the tip of each nail.  This is the cherry on top!  How cute.

Afterwards I took a dark blue colour polish by Revlon called 'Royal'.  I also took a bobby pin and bent it into a long horizontal piece of metal.  I then dipped the bobby pin in the blue polish and made sprinkles on top of the white polish.

My last step was applying a clear top coat.  This will allow your polish to stay longer and not chip!

I think they turned out super cute!  Don't be discouraged if they aren't perfect the first time, mine definitely weren't!

Inexpensive Pandora Look-a-like Bracelet

Hey everyone! Where I live Pandora bracelets are extremely popular but also overpriced (in my opinion).  I really love the look of them though.  During the last month or so I have been on a search to find more affordable alternatives.  This is what I found.

Pandora's standard silver bracelet costs $80 and that is WITHOUT any charms on it.  The charms themselves range in price from to $25 to $940!!!  If you want a full bracelet you need to purchase approximately 17-22 charms.  I am sure you realize how pricey this is getting.

I found two alternative locations to purchase Pandora look-a-likes.  The first was from a company called Metalsmiths.  Metalsmiths has a booth in my mall that sold the bracelets for $80 without any charms.  The big difference though was the price of the charms.  All charms cost less than $100 and most ranged between $30-$60.  This is where my boyfriend purchased my bracelet for Valentines day along with two charms and a stopper.

A stopper is a small charm that you put at the end of the bracelet so the charms don't all fall off when you open the clasp.  At Metalsmiths the stopper came with the bracelet.

The second alternative I actually found by chance.  I went to Micheals Craft Store to look for a vase for my makeup brushes and came across a display for Pandora look-a-like bracelets and charms.  Because I already had the Metalsmiths bracelet at this point, I just purchased some charms. I ended up getting a set of 10 charms for only $6 :)  Definitely a good price!  I wish I had looked at the price for the bracelet.  I never glanced at the price tag.  Sorry about that!

The downfall of the dirt cheap Michaels bracelets is that they do not come with a stopper.  The charms fall off the bracelet very easily.  On the bright side, if you lose some, they are inexpensive enough to replace.

I hope this was helpful.  I love my Pandora look-a-like.  Its easy on the eyes and on the wallet :)
